All School Leaver Programmes are undertaken within an apprenticeship where possible. The level of apprenticeship will depend on the qualification. Mazars fully supports apprenticeship programmes and the drive towards ensuring our team members are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be the best possible professional they can be.

The ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification, the Association of Chartered Accountants ‘ACA’, is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available. It is valued around the world in business, practice and the public sector.

In our Scottish offices we offer the CA qualification, through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. It’s a prestigious and internationally respected qualification that will provide you with the knowledge, skills and values to be highly regarded and sought-after business professional.

For School Leavers the ACA and CA usually take around 4 years to complete.

The career of a chartered accountant is a varied and interesting one, and either qualification will provide you with the skills to be a successful business professional anywhere in the world.

The qualification you study will depend on the business unit you will be working in. For Corporate Tax, you will start with the Association of Taxation Technicians (AAT) qualification which will then lead onto the ACA/CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) joint route. This whole route will take approximately 5 years. Within all other business units, you will study towards towards the ATT/CTA  (Association for Tax Advisors and Chartered Tax Advisor joint route).

You will be fully supported through your exams and gain experience supporting either our corporate and personal tax clients.

Tax is a dynamic, ever changing sector at the forefront of economic policy. Mazars also operates a number of in-house courses which will give you technical insight to assist you to keep up with changes in legislation and case law, both in the UK and worldwide.

All these qualifications will give you excellent all round business knowledge, introductory tax technical knowledge, practical skills and professional skills. You will study whilst gaining relevant tax experience.

AAT stands for the Association of Accounting Technicians. The AAT qualification gives you a great grounding in practical accounting knowledge and skills; and usually takes two years to complete.

Successful completion of your AAT may enable you to further study to become a Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA). This makes it a very attractive alternative for talented School Leavers.
